Review process

Desk review

Once a proposal is received, the article will be submitted to Desk Review, which consists of a preliminary review carried out by the Editorial Committee of the Journal, which evaluates whether the submission meets the minimum requirements in terms of originality, research methodology, citation format, quality of the work, and determination of whether it corresponds to a scientific article.

Likewise, the article will be submitted to a computer program specialized in detecting similarities with other texts (Turnitin).

According to the above mentioned evaluations, a Preliminary Evaluation Report will be issued informing whether:

  • The article will be sent directly to peer review (next stage detailed below);
  • The author(s) must correct the defects contained in the Report, as a previous requirement for sending the article to peer review; or
  • The article is rejected at the preliminary stage.

If the article requires modifications at the preliminary stage, the authors must submit it within the established deadline, enclosing a report with details of the modifications made. The Editorial Committee will decide on the basis of both files and (i) will send the article to peer review, or (ii) will reject it.

Peer review

The papers that have been approved in the Desk Review will be subjected to double-blind peer review.

The Editorial Committee will send the article to two specialists who are not related to the Institution that publishes the journal, who will prepare a report. This report, among other points, includes the evaluation of the formal aspects of the article (presentation, adequacy to the guidelines for the presentation of original articles, writing, etc.), as well as substantive aspects related to the pertinence of the text with the objectives of the journal, originality, hypothesis statement, etc.

The evaluator's report may conclude in the approval of the text without changes, in the request for modifications, or in the recommendation of non-publication. Any decision taken by the Journal Team will be informed to the author(s).

In the event that modifications are required, the authors must submit the new version within the established deadline, enclosing a report with the modifications made.
